There comes a time in every apartment owner’s life when it is time for a renovation or a face lift if you will. I am about to embark upon a built in mill work unit equipped with fireplace, TV, bookshelves, storage and even a place for my little Noonie heads (my dogs) to live. I run my business from home and have employees from one to three at a time. I had to create an efficient use of space that I can live and work in. As well my boyfriend and I are in talks of cohabitation so this put an even bigger importance on organization. He is a bit of a neat freak.
HERE ARE TWO GREAT EXAMPLES OF THE OVERALL CONCEPT, SHELVES FLANKING A FIREPLACE AND TV HUNG ABOVE. MY DESIGN WILL OBVIOUSLY HAVE SOME DIFFERENCES.

ALTHOUGH I AM GOING FOR SYMMETRY, I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE ASYMMETRICAL EXECUTIONS. I AM EVEN HAVING SOME REMORSE ABOUT GOING SYMETRICAL BUT LIKE THEY SAY “THE SHOE MAKER HAS NO SHOES” AND “THE DESIGNER IS NEVER HAPPY”. SO MANY CHOICES.

THE FIREPLACE I HAVE PURCHASED IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ONE IN THIS PHOTO. I THINK THEY ADD AN INTENSE LEVEL OF AMBIANCE TO ANY SPACE AND AS WELL PROJECT A VERY ROMANTIC SOOTHING LIGHT. I LIKE THE SLEAK MODERN LINEAR QUALITY OF THIS LOOK.

I hired Keith a contractor I met while working on Clean House NY. So far so good except for the overwhelming desire to choke him. I am very honest with him about this desire to kill him so it is all good. Actually we are very honest with each other about how much we find each other annoying so the hatred kind of cancels itself out and then in return becomes enjoyable, almost. Anyways, we are a little more than half way through the project as of today and I am to believe by the end of this month it will be completed.
I am taking photos everyday of the progress. The next post will include the drawings and progress photos so you can go through this process with me.
Enjoy this rainy day, perfect day to catch up on all indoor activities.
